Press release date: September 26, 2011
When one of the largest gold mining companies in the world first approached Inductotherm Corp. for their upcoming project in South America, they knew they wanted to smelt more gold per batch than had ever been done before. And Inductotherm was eager to assist them in making their vision come true.
First, Inductotherm had the task of locating the largest silicon-carbide crucible commercially available on the market. Once we knew how large the furnace could be, Inductotherm got to work and began designing three induction melting systems to meet their needs.
The three 5 metric ton induction Steel Shell Furnaces will be powered by three 750 kW VIP® Power-Melt® Systems and these, along with a variety of ancillary equipment, completes the melt shop.
