Impressions Packaging Offers Heavy-Wall PET Bottles with Molded-in Frost Look

Tarrytown, NY, July 10, 2007 - Given the demand for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles having a high-end, frosted-glass look, Impressions Packaging has added a frosted grade to its PET Glass(TM) line of thick-walled PET bottles. The frosted effect is molded in, which eliminates the high cost of spray painting bottles to create this effect.

This antique look is offered in frost green, blue and natural shades. PET Glass Frost Effect bottles are made by injection stretch blow molding for use in the health and beauty aid, cosmetic, spa, specialty consumer and other applications. The company gains this look using a new masterbatch from Ampacet, the leading supplier of custom-color and special-effect masterbatches.

"Combining our heavy-wall PET bottles with the vintage look of internally frosted glass provides an especially attractive look and feel", said Rob Hyams, vice president and principal at Impressions Packaging. "These bottles combine the safety of plastic with the clean, premium appearance of frosted or sandblasted flint glass. The molded-in, frost-effect avoids the time and expense of a secondary coating step and the need for special handling to prevent damage to the coating."

As heavy-wall bottles having about twice the wall thickness of commodity PET bottles, PET(TM) Glass containers are virtually nonsqueezable and have the appearance of glass. They offer excellent depth of color, improved shelf life, high durability, and more consistent hot stamping and silk screening with minimal scrap, smudges or voids. When used in place of glass packaging, they lower shipping costs and reduce liability issues. They are available in standard rounds and cylinders in capacities of 100 to 240 ml (3.3 to 8.0 oz.), as well as in specialty colors and custom shapes.
