Connector product line compliant with regulatory initiatives ...

SANTA ANA, Calif. - July 14, 2006 - ITT, Electronic Components announces compliance with RoHS and DFARS initiatives for its D-Subminiature connectors effective July 1, 2006.

D-Subminiature connectors were pioneered at Cannon, part of ITT, Electronic Components, and consist of two or more parallel rows of pins or sockets surrounded by a D-shaped shield that protects the components and screens against electromagnetic interference.

The European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive restricts the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium, PBB and PBDE in the manufacture of various types of electronics and electrical equipment. The Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) encourages domestic sources for specialty metals.

All ITT D-Subminiature product families are now RoHS-compliant or have RoHS-compliant alternates available. The ZD, D*A and MDSM families have been compliant since January 1, 2006. The D*, D*U, GD*, D*M, D*MA, D*JK/D*JT, D*D and 2D product families are now compliant, and many assemblies within these product families have been compliant for some time. A complete listing of RoHS-compliant assemblies and components is available on ITT, Electronic Components' website at www.ittcannon.com/rohs. If there are any questions regarding the compliance status of any D-Subminiature components relating to this initiative, please contact ITT at RoHSamericas@itt.com

The ITT D-Subminiature product families are also now compliant with DFARS directives relating to specialty metals. Currently, all configurations of these product families are compliant, except those that have float mount hardware, denoted as D*MAY, D*MAMY, D*MAF, D*MAMF, D*MF, D*MMF, D*MY and D*MMY. ITT is changing the sourcing of these specialty metal components to assure that all product lines are DFARS-compliant. If there are any questions regarding the compliance status of any D-Subminiature components relating to this initiative, please contact Wes Morgan, Product Marketing Manager, at wes.morgan@itt.com.
