SANTA ANA, Calif. - February 13, 2008 - ITT Interconnect Solutions, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of connectors, interconnects, and cable assemblies, has received an industry award for its XLR Series audio connector. Recognizing excellence in technical innovation to the audio market, the XLR Series audio connector from ITT's Cannon brand has been inducted into the TECnology Hall of Fame by the Mix Foundation for Excellence in Audio.
"We developed the XLR connector nearly 50 years ago in 1958, and it has grown to become a universal solution for both analog and digital connections," said Keith Teichmann, director of marketing for ITT Interconnect Solutions. The XLR Series audio connector features a quick disconnect latch lock along with a rugged design to withstand extended field use. Available in configurations of 2 and 7 positions, the plugs and receptacles offer precision, machined contacts, shock-absorbing rubber insulators, and lightweight aluminum shells.
Typical audio applications for the XLR Series connectors include TV cameras, mixers/recording equipment, microphones, and amplifiers/speakers. The connectors are also specified for use in medical instruments, industrial control devices, and test equipment.
The audio connectors are rated from 5A to 15A with an operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C. Typical pricing for the XLR Series audio connectors ranges from $3 to $8 each in quantities of 500 pieces. Lead time is from 10 to 14 weeks.
