New Global EMS Business Report from IPC Tracks Business Performance Metrics on Three Continents

BANNOCKBURN, Ill., USA — The Global EMS Business Report, published in July by IPC – Association Connecting Electronics Industries®, is the first in a quarterly series that reports average financial and operational performance metrics for a sample of EMS companies in North America, China and Europe.  The July 2013 report shows that first-quarter sales were down in all regions compared to last year. Average profit margins were also down, but still positive in all regions. Regional market size estimates and forecasts for 2013, provided by New Venture Research and published in the quarterly IPC report, indicate a recovery in market growth this year for all regions.

This first report in a quarterly subscription series includes aggregate performance data from IPC’s Global EMS Statistical Program that has never before been published. It covers sales and order growth and book-to-bill ratios for each region. Sales data are segmented by assembly-only business using consigned circuit boards and components, and turnkey assembly, which includes the value of boards and components. Industry confidence indices, based on the participating companies’ own projections for the next quarter and the next year, are also reported.

The business metrics covered include cost of goods sold (COGS), sales, general and administrative (SG&S) costs and other costs as percentages of sales, as well as profit margins, capacity utilization and other business performance metrics. These growth rates and metrics are reported by company size tiers for EMS companies in North America.

A one-year subscription to the quarterly report is available for $2,000 per year, with a discounted annual price of $1,000 for IPC members. Companies that participate in IPC’s Global EMS Statistical Program receive the report free.  All subscriptions offer a money-back guarantee in the first month.
