IPC honors STI Electronics, Inc. and Raytheon Company.

April 1, 2014 - During IPC APEX EXPO®, STI Electronics received IPC Stan Plzak Corporate Recognition Award and Raytheon Company received IPC Peter Sarmanian Corporate Recognition Award. Nearly all of STI's staff are active on IPC, with 6 employees actively engaged in dozens of standards development committees. In addition, company has 14 certified IPC specialists and 38 certified trainers. More than eight dozen Raytheon employees provide leadership and technical expertise on 135 standards development committees.

BANNOCKBURN, Ill., USA,  — IPC – Association Connecting Electronics Industries® bestowed its highest corporate honors to STI Electronics, Inc. and Raytheon Company. During a luncheon at IPC APEX EXPO®, the IPC Stan Plzak Corporate Recognition Award was presented to STI Electronics and the IPC Peter Sarmanian Corporate Recognition Award to Raytheon Company.

Named after a former IPC Board Chairman who was a founding member of the Electronics Manufacturing Services Industry Management Council, the Stan Plzak Award recognizes an IPC member company in the electronics assembly industry that has taken the initiative to actively contribute to enhancing the industry while demonstrating support of IPC though participation in technical and/or management programs.

STI Electronics has been an IPC member since 1985 and, though a small-sized EMS company, has had an big impact on IPC. Nearly all of its staff are active on IPC, with six employees actively engaged in dozens of standards development committees. In addition, the company has 14 certified IPC specialists and 38 certified trainers. A leader in the industry that is always helping set the bar high, STI Electronics served as a primary development partner for IPC’s Certification Quality Initiative that was launched in 2013.

The IPC Peter Sarmanian Corporate Recognition Award was named for former IPC Board Chairman Peter Sarmanian. This corporate award recognizes an IPC member corporation in the printed board industry that has taken a leadership role and made contributions to the industry while demonstrating support of IPC through participation in technical and/or management programs.

Raytheon Company has been an IPC member since 1978. Since that time, no other company has devoted as many staff members to IPC standards development. More than eight dozen Raytheon employees provide leadership and technical expertise on 135 standards development committees dedicated to topics ranging from design and board fabrication to assembly and supply chain management.

In addition to participating on standards committees, Raytheon takes IPC training and certification very seriously. More than 350 Raytheon Company employees have earned certified specialist status and more than 150 have earned certified trainer status. They currently have more than three dozen designers who have participated in the IPC Designer Certification program.
