The Association invites colleges and universities with a focus on the electronics industry to submit abstracts of about 300 words, due by December 1, 2008. All will be posted on the IPC APEX EXPO(TM) web site for online voting. The primary authors of the 15 posters with the most votes will each be awarded a $1,000 honorarium and be invited to display it at the event. Winners will be announced on April 2, with cash awards of $5,000, $2,000, and $1,000 for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, respectively.

IPC Sponsors All Academic Poster Competition



BANNOCKBURN, Ill, USA, October 9, 2008 - IPC - Association Connecting Electronics Industries® invites all U.S. and international colleges and universities with a strong focus on the electronics industry to submit poster abstracts for the "all academic poster competition" at IPC APEX EXPO(TM), the industry's premier conference on electronics manufacturing, March 31-April 2, 2009, in Las Vegas. This friendly competition presents academic research departments with a golden opportunity to get international recognition and cash awards for their hard work and quiet dedication.

Abstracts of approximately 300 words must be received by December 1, 2008 and must be submitted on behalf of an accredited college or university. All accepted abstracts will be posted on the IPC APEX EXPO Web site. Industry technologists worldwide will be invited to vote online for the best poster abstract based on innovation, timeliness of the work and applicability to industry needs. The primary authors of the 15 posters receiving the most votes will each be awarded a $1,000 honorarium and invited to prominently display his or her poster at IPC APEX EXPO in Las Vegas. IPC will also provide each of these primary authors with four free nights of hotel accommodations and a free technical conference registration.

At the event, the top 15 posters will be on display on the show floor, where more than 13,000 key engineers, managers and executives from all segments of the electronic interconnect community worldwide will have an opportunity to vote for the top three. The winners will be announced at the closing keynote on Thursday, April 2 and cash awards of $5,000, $2,000 and $1,000, for first, second and third places, respectively, will be presented to the winning poster authors.

Notably, the "all academic poster competition" at IPC APEX EXPO, offers a great opportunity for close interaction and communication between academic research programs and companies in electronics assembly and printed board manufacturing and design.
