IPC Honors DDi Corp. and Flextronics with Corporate Recognition Awards



BANNOCKBURN, Ill., USA - IPC - Association Connecting Electronics Industries® bestowed its highest corporate honors to DDi Corp. and Flextronics. During luncheons held in conjunction with IPC APEX EXPO®, IPC awarded the IPC Peter Sarmanian Corporate Recognition Award to DDi Corp. and the IPC Stan Plzak Corporate Recognition Award to Flextronics. For many years, both DDi Corp. and Flextronics have consistently provided staff resources to standards development and other committee initiatives.

Named for a former IPC Board Chairman, the Peter Sarmanian Corporate Recognition Award honors an IPC member company in the printed circuit board industry that has taken a leadership role and made contributions to the industry while demonstrating support of IPC through participation in technical and/or management programs.

DDi Corp. has been an IPC member since 1996 and its staff is active on 22 technical committees. Mikel Williams, its president and CEO, serves on IPC's Board of Directors and chairs the Government Relations Committee; an additional 70 employees have earned certified IPC specialist or certified IPC trainer status.

Commenting on DDi Corp.'s involvement, Mikel Williams said, "We encourage broad participation of DDi employees in IPC. It's good for any industry to have active companies that are pushing forward with agendas that benefit the entire industry. In printed circuit boards, IPC is the conduit for these efforts."

Named after a former IPC Board Chairman who was a founding member of the IPC Electronics Manufacturing Services Industry Management Council, the Stan Plzak Corporate Recognition Award was presented to Flextronics for its initiative in enhancing the industry while demonstrating support of IPC through participation in technical and/or management programs.

An IPC member since 1993 with 90 member facilities across the world, Flextronics has staff active on 39 IPC technical committees. In addition, nearly 1,000 Flextronics employees have earned certified IPC specialist or certified IPC trainer status. In 2010, the company became IPC's first global corporate member.

"We've actively promoted the adoption and utilization of IPC standards at Flextronics," said Dr. Dongkai Shangguan, vice president of advanced technology, at Flextronics International and an IPC Board member. "We have a global agreement with IPC that lets all Flextronics employees access IPC standards. That facilitates widespread adoption of these standards within our company."
