ICP Connects with Future Industrial Distribution Employees at TECHSPO

Chicago, Ill.—Industrial Careers Pathway® recently exhibited at the 2013 SkillsUSA TECHSPO in Kansas City, Mo. on June 25 – 27.  TECHSPO offers ICP a great way to spread the word about the incredibly rewarding careers in the field of industrial distribution to those with the skillset needed by the industry.

ICP staff held hundreds of conversations with young adults and their influencers over the three days of TECHSPO, North America’s largest trade show for career and technical education.  Attended by more than 14,000 students, teachers and school administrators from high schools, technical/vocational colleges and training programs, TECHSPO offers ICP a perfect opportunity to engage in face-to-face conversations.

SkillsUSA TECHSPO is held in conjunction with the SkillsUSA Championships, where students compete in over 90 hands-on-skill and leadership competitions to win national awards.  Mary Jawgiel, ICP Program Director, who attended the TECHSPO for ICP notes, “These students are the cream of the crop when it comes to the mindset and skills necessary for success in the field of industrial distribution and manufacturing.  Attending this event was a fantastic way to introduce students and their influencers to all the opportunities available in the field.”

Jawgiel reports that the most requested item from teachers and administrators attending TECHSPO was to have industrial distribution professionals attend career fairs and make presentation to their classes.  ICP is working to fill these requests through its ICP Ambassadors Corps, and Jawgiel adds, “We’re already making plans to attend next year’s event.”

Through the collective support of Alliance Partners and their member companies, ICP is devoted to building awareness among the elusive 18-34 year old audience about the incredibly rewarding careers available in industrial distribution.
