IBM Boosts zEnterprise Capabilities with New Business Analytics and Cloud Software Solutions

ORLANDO, Fla. - At its inaugural Enterprise2013 Summit, with over 2,700 clients and business partners in attendance, IBM (NYSE: IBM) unveiled new business analytics and cloud software solutions to help zEnterprise clients take advantage of new workloads.
The IBM zEnterprise family of mainframes, which includes the zEC12, zBC12 and Enterprise Linux Server (ELS) platforms, provides businesses with a high performance, extremely secure, resilient, and efficient platform to exploit analytics and cloud computing.

Enhancements to IBM DB2 for z/OS and IBM IMS are prime examples of how companies can manage big data to achieve a competitive edge. The new IBM DB2 11 for z/OS enables enterprises, for example, to take advantage of the scale, performance and availability of zEnterprise to integrate the results of Hadoop processing into its enterprise datastore.
In addition, enterprises using IBM IMS 13 have the ability to combine integrated analytics with unstructured and social data seamlessly, merging knowledge from various types of data and eliminating the need for separate, siloed systems. By adopting these analytics solutions into their zEnterprise platform, companies can create a streamlined, secure information hub that can deliver critical business insights wirelessly, wherever and whenever the data is needed.  Â
IBM is introducing IBM Cognos TM1 for zEnterprise which provides deep insight for Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) to create, analyze and manage sophisticated financial plans, providing greater visibility into enterprise profitability. This powerful new software offers a complete package of flexible enterprise planning, budgeting and analytics tools for company-wide performance management and optimization. The software also supports a full range of business requirements from high-performance, financial analytics and modeling to enterprise collaboration across all lines of business. The software can be extended through the cloud with reliable and secure access from mobile devices.
As zEnterprise clients continue to grow their analytics, cloud and mobile workloads, they require new and innovative ways to manage their mainframe resources for optimal performance. The new IBM Capacity Management Analytics solution can help IT managers track, predict and avert performance issues and unforeseen capacity requirements before they occur, ensuring the availability of services for end customers. This new solution incorporates predictive analytics capabilities bringing together business and performance data for applications running on a zEnterprise platform and pinpoints the existing and potential resource issues before they affect a company's business operations. The solution integrates Cognos, SPSS and Tivoli Decision Manager software with custom templates to provide graphical insights into resources and capabilities.
The latest enhancement to the zEnterprise cloud solution portfolio is the IBM Entry Cloud Configuration for SAP® Solution on zEnterprise v2. This cloud enablement offering combines high-performance technology and services to automate, standardize and accelerate day-to-day SAP operations for reduced operational costs and increased ROI.
