Taipei, Taiwan - IBASE Technology Inc.(TASDAQ: 8050), a world-leading manufacturer of single board computers and embedded systems, announces the release of the 2012 Computex Taipei design & innovation Gold Award winner SI-38 - an ultra slim embedded system with a fusion processor and multiple display outputs designed specifically for Digital Signage Applications.
Performance
Featuring a brand new micro architecture with up to four CPU cores and 384 GPU cores, the SI-38 is powered by an accelerated processing unit (APU). With its 128-bit DDR3-1600 memory interface affording a generous 25.6GB/s bandwidth, the SI-38 is designed to run graphics intensive applications with a level of performance previously exclusive to discrete GPUs. Cutting edge APIs - including DirectX 11.1, OpenGL 4.1 and OpenCL 1.2 - are fully supported. The system is also capable of decoding multiple H.264, WMV9, MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 video streams totally in the graphic subsystem, freeing the CPU cores for other tasks.
Connectivity
The SI-38 offers unmatched flexibility in peripheral, network and display connectivity. USB 3.0, RS-232, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G-Wireless interfaces are available, along with the ability to utilize an internal TV Tuner module. The SI-38 supports up to three independent HD1080 displays with Dual-Link DVI, HDMI (w/ audio) and/or CRT (VGA) ports.
Specialty
The SI-38 is engineered for digital signage applications with an ultra slim (10.6" x 7.1" x 1.02") chassis that is slender enough to disappear into the tightest spaces behind displays. The all metal enclosure is built around a robust aluminum casting that serves simultaneously as the system's structural backbone, thermal conduit, EMI shield and mounting bracket. To ensure long-term reliability with a minimum acoustic footprint, the cooling airflow is segregated from the electronics to keep contaminants out and the Maglev air movers are temperature throttled for optimum rotational speed. For convenient pre-deployment preparation and on-site servicing, the 2.5" mass storage device bay is also made externally accessible.
