Hypertherm's Powermax30 "Product of the Year" Finalist

Hanover, NH, USA - Hypertherm, the world leader in metal cutting technology, today announced its Powermax30® handheld plasma cutter is a judges award winner and finalist for "product of the year" in a competition sponsored by the New Hampshire High Technology Council.

The competition recognizes high tech products and services that demonstrate excellence in innovation, performance, functionality, value, uniqueness and ties to New Hampshire.

Introduced late last year, the Powermax30 is a highly portable plasma cutter. It weighs just 20 pounds and can cut 3/8 inch thick metal and sever ½ inch thick metal. It is used by people who work in a variety of different industries, such as automotive repair and restoration, residential construction, and metal arts. Its small size and light weight also make it a great tool for people who have to cut metal in the field or in small confined areas.

Hypertherm will now present its Powermax30 to an audience of business, government and education leaders at an event in Manchester on Tuesday, November 13. There, judges and attendees will jointly decide on the winner.

The winning product, along with the four finalists, will be displayed at the airport in Manchester so it can be seen by the millions of people who pass through there each year.

Judges for this year's "product of the year" are seven well known technology innovators. They include Dick Morley, inventor of the programmable logic controller and investor in more than 100 start up companies; Bob McCray, venture capitalist and mentor for more than 35 New Hampshire companies; and Charles "Hutch" Hutchinson, former dean of Dartmouth's Thayer School of Engineering.

The New Hampshire High Technology Council's purpose is to bring together representatives from the private and public sectors to establish and maintain financial, technical, management, legislative and educational support programs that encourage innovative research and technology-based industrial development in New Hampshire.

Since 1968, Hypertherm has been the industry leader in plasma arc cutting equipment and service. By continually delivering breakthrough advances in metal-cutting productivity and precision - first in plasma, now also in laser - Hypertherm reaffirms and extends its position as the world's leading supplier of advanced high temperature metal cutting technology. Hypertherm serves a wide range of industrial metal cutting needs from its headquarters in Hanover, New Hampshire, with subsidiaries, sales offices and partner representation worldwide.
