Hypertherm Introduces True Bevel Technology and More at FABTECH 2012

HANOVER, N.H. - Hypertherm today announced the release of new edge profiling technology designed to help fabricators and CNC table manufacturers achieve accurate bevel cuts more easily than before. Hypertherm's new True Bevel(TM) technology includes factory tested mild steel cut charts for all Hypertherm HyPerformance® HPRXD® plasma systems. These cut charts contain meticulously developed parameters to significantly reduce the amount of time and effort required to produce quality bevels using plasma.

"We estimate more than 90 percent of fabricators need to apply a beveled edge to at least some of their parts," said Aaron Brandt, who leads Hypertherm's mechanized team. "We also know most of these fabricators spend a considerable amount of time setting up their systems through trial and error, and even then, the outcome is inconsistent. Hypertherm's new plasma bevel technology is designed to deliver accurate and consistent bevels without that lengthy set-up time."

The new technology is similar to Hypertherm's patent-pending True Hole® process in that it makes it easy to consistently optimize bevel performance. The benefit to customers is a significant reduction in trial and error time, helping to deliver higher productivity, more throughput, and less waste. Hypertherm plans to embed the cut charts in Hypertherm's CNC/CAM software and make it available to its partners for inclusion with their proprietary CNC/CAM solutions.

HPRXD enhancements for stainless and mild steel cutting

In addition to its True Bevel technology, Hypertherm announced several other technologies for its HyPerformance HPRXD product line. Those technologies include new HDi (HyDefinition inox) technology, which delivers industry leading cut performance on thin (less than ¼ inch thick) stainless steel. Additionally, pierce performance on thick stainless is significantly improved as well thanks to patented PowerPierce® technology and an innovative new controlled motion pierce process that enables piercing on stainless up to 4 inches thick. A new set of parameters delivers improved fine feature cutting on mild steel up to 1 inch thick. These settings, available for all customers with an HPRXD autogas system, work in combination with Hypertherm's patented True Hole technology.

Introducing new plasma, fiber laser, and CNC products

Finally, the company introduced the MAXPRO200®, a 200 amp LongLife® air and oxygen plasma system, engineered for heavy duty, high capacity cutting and gouging. The system boasts the fastest cut speeds, best cut quality and lowest operating costs in its class. Additionally, the combination of LongLife technology and excellent Air/Air and O2/Air cut quality enables operators to cut more parts per hour and minimizes the need for secondary operations. Hypertherm also previewed an all new 3.0 kilowatt fiber laser system, demonstrated its new Powermax105, as well as unveiled the new EDGE Pro Ti CNC complete with a major update to its popular Phoenix software.

Hypertherm designs and manufactures advanced cutting systems for use in a variety of industries such as shipbuilding, manufacturing, and automotive repair. Its product line includes handheld and mechanized plasma and laser systems, consumables, as well as CNC motion and height controls and CAM cutting software. Hypertherm systems are trusted for performance and reliability that results in increased productivity and profitability for tens of thousands of businesses. The New Hampshire based company's reputation for metal cutting innovation dates back to 1968, with Hypertherm's invention of water injection plasma cutting. The company, consistently named one of the best places to work in America, has more than 1,000 associates along with operations and partner representation worldwide.
