Press release date: March 17, 2009
Huffman Corporation, located in Clover, South Carolina, announces it now offers intermittent dress Conventional Grinding wheels on its standard grinding platforms in addition to plated and vitrified CBN wheels. The capability can be retrofitted to installed machines.
Huffman pioneered the use of CBN grinding wheel technology at its founding. For the past 30 years, the company has offered dressable and electroplated CBN wheel technology. Now Huffman also offers ceramic grinding wheel technology. Highly porous, glass bonded, ceramic wheels offer very aggressive material removal rates for many applications.
Huffman offers these wheels as part of an engineered grinding process. Machines are equipped with static or rotary diamond dressing devices to intermittently touch up the wheel profile. The High Q' ceramic wheels can be small enough to fit within a multiplewheel pack, thereby enabling the system to machine a complete part in one cycle; now with even higher material removal rates.
In addition, Huffman announces it has extended its Grinding center offering from its popular HS196GC 16" work cube with 9 +1 - 10" wheels, to its larger 32 X 24 X 16 in. work envelope HS225S model. The HS225GC comes in two versions, both of which can exchange wheel packs and coolant nozzles simultaneously. The HS225GC uses a HSK 100 receiver for the 12+1 wheel pack version, and a HSK 63 for the coolant nozzle changer. Or a 6 + 1 wheelpack and nozzle changer version that is also retrofit able to installed machines.
With these product line additions, Huffman now competes directly with popular foreign grinding machines and machining centers, with its legendary productivity, reliability, price, delivery and local service advantages.
In a blind survey conducted in September 2008, Huffman was the highest ranked provider for grinding systems in 8 value categories: Reliability/Maintainability, Technology, Quality, Process Capability, Service, Start Quick, Total Value, and Purchase Again. The blind survey included leading Foreign and American grinding machine producers.
