Houston Exploration Special Meeting of Stockholders Scheduled for June 5, 2007


HOUSTON, April 30 / -- The Houston Exploration Company (NYSE:THX) today announced that it has scheduled a special meeting of stockholders on June 5, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. Central time at the Four Seasons Hotel, 1300 Lamar Street, Houston, Texas 77010, to consider and vote on the proposal to adopt the Agreement and Plan of Merger, dated as of January 7, 2007, by and among Forest Oil Corporation (NYSE:FST), MJCO Corporation, a Delaware corporation and a wholly owned subsidiary of Forest, and Houston Exploration.

Only Houston Exploration stockholders of record at the close of business on April 30, 2007, the record date for the special meeting, are entitled to notice of, and to vote at, the special meeting and any adjournments or postponements of the special meeting.

The Houston Exploration board of directors has unanimously approved the merger agreement and the transactions contemplated by the merger agreement.
