Hoosier Crane Service Company Receives Hoist Technician Certification

Elkhart, Indiana - (May 15, 2009) Todd Cook, Vice President of Service and Fabrication at Hoosier Crane Service Company, has received Columbus McKinnon Corporation (CMCO) Hoist Technician Certification.

OSHA, ASME and the Hoist Manufactures Institute (HMI) have published standards, regulations and technical papers to help establish hoist inspection, repair, maintenance and testing procedures and programs. CMCO hoist companies (Coffing, CM, Yale, Budget, SHAWBOX) have taken this responsibility one step further by offering a recognition program for highly qualified hoist repair and service facilities which will allow them to showcase their technicians and their commitment to excellence.

Cook received the CMCO Hoist Technician Certification by passing the following certification course agenda:

o Current American National Standards (ANSI/ASME)

o Inspection procedures and removal criteria per Coffing, CM, Yale, Budget, SHAWBOX, OSHA and ASME

o Documentation

o Holding and load brake maintenance

o Proof testing procedures

o Understanding hoist electrical systems - "Reading a Wiring Diagram"

o Complete teardown and rebuild of all CMCO hand hoists, lever tools and electric hoists

o Troubleshooting

o Written Certification Exam

"We invested in the CMCO Hoist Technician Certification program for two reasons," said Tom Schmidt, President of Hoosier Crane Service Company. "We are committed to the safety of our staff and our customers' employees and this level of training enhances our ability to create a safe work environment. We also want recognition as a service and repair facility with the highest level of technical competence."
