Honeywell to Integrate Wireless Technology for China's Masteel

IntelaTrac PKS Will Help Gather Real-Time Field Data, Increase Asset Life and Improve Employee Safety

BEIJING, Nov. 15, 2006 - Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced it has entered into an agreement to provide an advanced automated process control system with integrated wireless technology for Masteel, one of China's largest iron and steel manufacturers. The contract - which includes Honeywell's IntelaTrac PKS, as well as design, engineering, commissioning, testing and maintenance services - will help Masteel better control and manage its manufacturing process.

By integrating wireless technology into Honeywell's advanced application solutions, Masteel operators can quickly upload all field information to a control center. This helps operators gather real-time field data more easily, increase asset life through continuous monitoring and improve employee safety. Additionally, Honeywell wireless technology helps plants improve compliance, safety and security, reliability and optimization.

"In today's competitive environment, we need a total solution which helps us optimize our manufacturing process to ensure our continuous position as a leader in the industry," said Mr. Zhang Dali, the general manager of the Coking Company of Masteel, "With Honeywell's complete solution, we can improve our process-management capabilities and maintain a strong competitive edge."

In addition to IntelaTrac, Honeywell will provide Masteel with a process control system, Uniformance® PHD, Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and its Digital Video Manager(TM) (DVM) system.

"China's iron and steel industry continues to grow rapidly, and the government's development strategy for these industries focuses on technology innovation and industry structure adjustment," said Thomas Liu, managing director, Greater China Region, Honeywell Process Solutions. "Technology like IntelaTrac and Uniformance can aide iron and steel manufacturers in meeting that requirement by making their operations more efficient, making sure their equipment is functioning properly and keeping workers safe. This helps them improve production capabilities and remain profitable."

Founded in 1958 and based in Anhui province, Masteel produces eight million tons of iron and steel per year. The company has some of the world's leading production lines of thin strips, high-speed wires, train wheels and steel H-beams.

Honeywell's presence in China dates back to 1935. The company has key facilities in major Chinese cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, KaiPing, and ShenZhen, and continues to expand its local manufacturing and engineering presence.
