Honeywell Recognized for Pioneering Innovations by Members of Arizona's Technology Community
Company's Advances in Industrial Process Control, Aerospace, Electronic Materials Manufacturing Noted at Governor's Celebration of Innovation
PHOENIX, Dec. 15, 2006 - Honeywell (NYSE:HON) announced today it was honored with the 2006 Pioneering Innovation Award at the Governor's Celebration of Innovation (GCOI) in Arizona.
The technology-excellence award is presented each year to a company that has gone to great lengths in contributing to Arizona's technology industry through sustained business presence, corporate citizenship, community involvement and business success.
"Honeywell has been a fabulous partner to both the state's technology community, and to the Arizona Technology Council," said Donna Kent, president of the Arizona Technology Council, which hosts GCOI along with the Arizona Department of Commerce. Three of Honeywell's businesses employ a total of 12,500 people in Arizona - Honeywell Process Solutions, Honeywell Aerospace and Honeywell Electronic Materials. The company has seen strong growth and success in Arizona during the past three decades. Jack Bolick, president of Honeywell Process Solutions, accepted the award on behalf of the company at the Governor's Celebration of Innovation ceremony earlier this month.
The GCOI Awards is the largest statewide awards event for technology companies in Arizona. Seven awards were presented this year, with winners chosen from a pool of more than 100 entrants. Recipients are selected by a panel of 10 judges who represent Arizona's technology, business and education sectors.
Honeywell's recent high-profile successes include the global launch of Experion® Process Knowledge System (PKS) Release 300, the latest release of Honeywell's automation platform for process industries that ensures manufacturing plants improve efficiency. Honeywell employed a global team to develop and test Experion, with the main engineering team located in Phoenix.
In aerospace, Honeywell's HTF7000 jet engine has earned a best-in-class reputation in the business aviation industry. The engine was developed, tested and fabricated in Arizona. Eighteen government and foreign patents have been granted for the engine's unique design, and the HTF7000 is an industry leader in cost-of-operation that requires less maintenance and offers unique safety features.
Within the last two years, Honeywell's Electronic Materials business relocated to Arizona from California because of the presence of key semiconductor manufacturers in the region,. The business also opened a new manufacturing and distribution center in Chandler to boost Honeywell's capabilities to manufacture customized chemicals for the semiconductor industry.
Celebration of Innovation Award entrants are also judged on integrity and ethics. Honeywell was recognized for an initiative to provide clear and consistent direction to employees of the company's top priorities. The program has dramatically changed Honeywell's business culture and integrated its many business units into a single entity driven by customers and performance.
