Herman Verbueken of Alcatel-Lucent Honoured by the DSL Forum

08 January 2008 - Herman Verbueken, Product Manager with Alcatel-Lucent, has been presented with the DSL Forum Circle of Excellence award in recognition of his contribution to DSL testing work.

Herman, who has been involved with the efforts of the DSL Forum since 1998, received the award at the Forum's fourth quarterly meeting in Lisbon, Portugal. He has played an integral part in the Forum's Test & Interoperability Working Group, helping to align the DSL Forum's test plans with quality testing best practises. He has also served as an editor for Technical Report -100 (TR-100), which is now considered the industry reference for ADSL2plus performance requirements.

Les Brown, chairman of the DSL Forum's Test & Interoperability Working Group, commented "Herman continues to be a great asset to the DSL Forum, and his leadership developing TR-100 has been particularly outstanding. He is highly committed to his work and fully deserving of this recognition."

Herman's work with the DSL Forum's Test & Interoperability Working Group also resulted in the alignment of the DSL Forum's testing work with the ITU's DSL recommendations. Working closely with European service providers, Herman helped bring converged performance requirements to the Forum.

Herman says "I am extremely honoured to receive this Circle of Excellence award. It is a great privilege to be singled out for my work with the Forum and I look forward to continuing to work alongside so many talented colleagues in the future."

The Circle of Excellence Award is given to those individuals who have shown exceptional skill or have provided a significant contribution to the DSL Forum's work and future. The award, which is nomination driven, has been presented at the Forum's quarterly meetings since 2000. Representatives from around the world have been recognized for their leadership in the development of interoperability and management standards; their contribution to the strategic development of the Forum; and their commitment to the committees that ensure the Forum's continued success.
