Henkel Wins Connecticut Quality Improvement Award Innovation Prize for Purex® and Soft Scrub®

Henkel has received gold and silver awards in the 16th annual Connecticut Quality Improvement Award (CQIA) Innovation Prize competition. Henkel received a gold award for Purex® Complete 3-in-1(TM) laundry sheets, and a silver award for Soft Scrub® TOTAL kitchen and bath cleaners. Henkel is a global manufacturer of household, personal care, and adhesive technology products with North American headquarters located in Rocky Hill, Conn.

Purex® Complete 3-in-1(TM) laundry sheets are a groundbreaking new laundry product that combines detergent, softener, and anti-static ingredients in a single sheet that goes from washer to dryer. The detergent portion of the sheet is released during the wash cycle, and the softener and anti-static are activated by the heat of the dryer.

Soft Scrub® TOTAL kitchen and bath cleaners simplify consumers' cleaning routines with one formula that cleans the entire kitchen or bathroom. Soft Scrub® TOTAL's innovative trigger dispenses either a foam or a spray, and even works upside down to get into hard-to-reach places like under the toilet rim or inside the microwave.

The Stamford-based Connecticut Quality Improvement Award is the nation's first state-level quality award using the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for Performance Excellence and Innovation criteria in an effort to advance innovative programs that improve quality, performance, and marketplace competitiveness. CQIA supports "Five Steps to the Baldrige Award" with the entry-level CQIA Innovation Prize, mid-level Breakthrough Quality Award, and the highest level Leadership Quality Award. All awards recognize manufacturing and service companies, health care, education, government, and other not-for-profit organizations. Overall, CQIA handed out four platinum awards, 16 gold awards, and 37 silver awards in this year's competition.

The 23rd annual CQIA Conference on Quality and Innovation will be held at Water's Edge Resort in Westbrook on Friday, October 29, 2010 with speakers including the CQIA Innovation Prize platinum and gold recipients.
