Press release date: September 3, 2009

HERCULES, CA (September 3, 2009) Hench Control is the largest manufacturer and supplier of energy management systems for industrial refrigeration in the United States, with additional installations in Canada, Europe and Latin America. As a world-wide supplier of energy management systems for industrial refrigeration, Hench Energy Management has saved millions of dollars in energy costs for its customers by using a unique proprietary control system along with energy management modules. Hench has always been extremely aware of the responsibility and necessity to promote sustainability. The inherent problem is quantifying sustainability. Hench has developed and has in full swing an Energy Management Monitoring System which does just that; it has the ability to support hard numbers and quantifies the energy savings in Kwh saved, which in turn translates not only to huge reductions in the CO2 footprint, but also calculates the savings in dollars and cents every month.

By saving millions of kilowatt-hours each year and preventing millions of tons of greenhouse gases from being released into the atmosphere, Hench has been leading the fight against the release of unnecessary carbon dioxide into the air for decades. Most of Hench's customers reduce their power consumption by over 25%, with up to a 35% reduction in some cases. It is interesting to note that the total usage of power for Hench's current customer base is over 1.96 billion kWh per year and growing, with an average annual CO2 emission of 2.235 billion pounds of CO2. It is clear that the potential for significant reduction in greenhouse gases in industrial refrigeration is very large, and Hench is taking an active and aggressive role towards promoting a social economic program which is a win-win situation for the end user as well as the environment.

The company has created an extensive campaign to accommodate customers who are under stringent budgetary restraints. Hench has initiated a very inventive and effective financial program which positively affects customers' balance sheets from the onset. Besides taking part in a sustainability program, Hench is taking a proactive stance towards guaranteeing sustainability by utilizing an in-house, technical call center to monitor each and every facility under their campaign, thereby guaranteeing energy savings. The 'mantra' has been two pronged; first of all, reduce the immediate CO2 footprint through a radical reduction in Kwh usage, while maintaining a very efficient controlled environment; and secondly, by quantifying an immediate return in dollars and cents beginning at month one, indefinitely! What may start as a positive initiative by top management can readily become discarded and inefficient, if not constantly maintained and monitored by an expert group of energy technicians. Hench wants this to be a win-win situation to benefit first and foremost the end user, while at the same time be conscientious and sensitive to the environment by demonstrating real objectives and accomplishments in reducing green house gases.

Hench's energy conservation heritage dates back to 1985, with control system installations in refrigerated warehouses and cold chain production facilities. Hench has a sophisticated technique for saving energy in blast freezers, a process which was always thought to be impossible, as well as passive freezers, cold rooms and production facilities around the world. Other energy saving techniques which were developed are demand costs and tables, time and temperature controlled defrost, optimizing compressor usage, floating discharge pressure, load-based compressor control and many others which are inclusive in Hench's massive programs. These advanced and proprietary energy saving techniques which use high-level sophisticated language, are what reduce energy usage and help sustainability by conserving the energy that comes from our precious natural assets.
