Hella KGaA Hueck & Company
Rixbecker Str. 75
Lippstadt, 59552
Germany

Press release date: December 4, 2007

PLYMOUTH, Mich., Dec. 4 -- Hella KGaA Hueck & Co., a global tier-one supplier of automotive lighting and electronic equipment, has received honorable mention in the 2008 Automotive News Premier Automotive Suppliers' Contribution to Excellence (PACE) Award program for its lane-change assistance technology.

One of Hella's numerous driver-assistance systems and currently available on the 2008 Audi Q7, the company's lane-change technology determines objects in vehicle blind spots. The system also recognizes objects not visible in the rear-view mirror.

When a vehicle enters the Q7's range of vision, a yellow vertical light strip illuminates on the corresponding side-view mirror. If a vehicle is in a neighboring lane when the driver activates a turn signal to indicate an intention to change lanes, the driver will receive a side mirror warning signal. The vehicle's vertical light strip will then flash.

"We are proud to be recognized and honored by Automotive News, the PACE Award community and our fellow suppliers," said Dr. Martin Fischer, president of Hella Electronics Corporation. "Hella is constantly striving to achieve innovative and advanced technology for our customers."

Hella's lane-change assistant has two 24-GHz radar sensors integrated into the vehicle's bumper with a range of 164 feet, regardless of weather conditions.

The Automotive News PACE award recognizes supplier innovations, technological advancements and business performance in products, processes, information technology, materials and services for the manufacture of cars or trucks.

Hella's lane-change assistant was submitted in the Product-Europe category -- innovations first commercialized or developed in Europe in new products or services, new product and service development and introduction processes that have significant market impact.

The PACE Award is jointly presented by Microsoft, SAP, Transportation Research Center Inc. (TRC Inc.) and Automotive News.
