Headwall Appoints Portable Analytical Solutions as Integrator for Australia, New Zealand

Hyperspectral technology partner expands Headwall presence in Australia Asia-Pacific region with End-to-End Remote-Sensing Solutions

Fitchburg, Massachusetts USA

Headwall has announced a new distributor agreement with Portable Analytical Solutions (PAS), with offices in the Australian cities of Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth. The agreement between the two companies, effective immediately, includes the country of New Zealand as well and reflects the growing interest of the remote sensing industry in both ground-based and airborne hyperspectral sensing solutions.

In announcing the appointment, Headwall CEO David Bannon remarked on the synergy between Portable Analytical Solution's existing lines and Headwall's hyperspectral sensors. "Remote sensing customers and the mining and exploration community will benefit from Portable Analytical Solutions' ability to offer its customers a complete remote sensing hyperspectral package that complements the other ground-based technologies they represent," Mr. Bannon noted. "Remote sensing is most precise when airborne and ground-truth capabilities are synchronized, and PAS will have the unique ability to provide the very diverse Australian market with integrated solutions."

Portable Analytical Solutions has 20 years of experience in instrumentation, ranging from technical assistance to sales, training and deployment. Application areas for PAS are diverse, including mining and mineral exploration, metal recycling, environmental research, and remote sensing. Mr. Paul Martin of Portable Analytical Solutions remarked on bringing Headwall's award-winning Hyperspec line of Hyperspectral sensors to the Australian market. "Hyperspectral imaging is a required tool for the remote-sensing community, and we're very pleased to announce our alignment with Headwall," noted Mr. Martin. "We can offer our clients solutions for UAVs and manned aircraft while at the same time showing how the technology is also perfectly suited for field use, in high-speed advanced machine vision applications, for environmental monitoring, precision agriculture, and exploration sciences."

Hyperspectral imaging can quickly and non-destructively image anything within the field of view to determine its chemical and spectral fingerprint. Headwall's sensors take advantage of diffractive optics, which use aberration-corrected gratings to deliver high performance with respect to high spatial and spectral resolution, high signal-to-noise, and a wide field of view. Remote sensing using small and light sensors mounted to hand-launched UAVs is a fast-growing application area that Headwall has pioneered.
