Harper's Pilot Line on Display at Carbon Fiber 2013

ORNL Pilot Line Design by HarperHarper invites you to join us in Tennessee at the 2013 CompositesWorld Carbon Fiber Conference on December 9-12 for the unique opportunity to tour Harper's cutting-edge Complete Pilot Line installed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Carbon Fiber Technology Facility. This sophisticated and flexible line is the ideal outlet for Carbon Fiber research and development, focused on operation under multiple precursor platforms.

The conference will focus on advancements in Carbon Fiber with presentations by many industry experts and culminate in the tour of the ORNL line that was designed, manufactured and installed by Harper. This versatile system is enabling ORNL's demonstration of advanced technology scalability and produces market-development volumes of carbon fibers, serving as the last step before commercial production scale. The line features:

Capacities of 25 tons per year of PAN based fiber

Designed to process material in tow and web formats

Flexible to accomodate lignin, polyolefin, and pitch precursors and can be readily upgraded to convert rayon and high-modulus PAN precursors

Innovative Oxidation Ovens configurable to be parallel, cross, or downflow

Advanced Carbonization Furnaces with the capability to produce structural or micro/nanoporous fibers
