Press release date: January 29, 2013
Tampa, Florida - Gulf Controls Company is well known in the Southeast US as a reliable resource for fluid power and motion control products. Over the past year and a half, they have increased their already-extensive capabilities in the area of fluid conveyance.
The company set up a dedicated hose room, which allows them to maintain an extensive inventory in-house. By buying hose and fittings by the truckload, they are able to achieve volume savings, which then result in competitive billing to their customers. They have invested in the highest volume hose cutting and hose crimping equipment obtainable, in order to meet volume demands and to offer competitive price points as a result of improved productivity.
Their hose room features hose by Gates, and adapters and fittings by Brennan. Gates hydraulic and industrial hose is resistant to abrasion, UV, ozone, and weathering, while still remaining lightweight and flexible. Gulf Controls is the exclusive OEM distributor for Gates in Florida and Southeast Georgia.
All Gulf Controls sales engineers in the area of fluid conveyance receive on-site training at the Gates factory, to ensure the highest level of competence. In addition, Gulf Controls employs a full-time product manager, Alex Quinn, to assist with all hose-related needs.
Among the value added services provided are Kanban and VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering).
With Kanban, the OEMs using the hose and assemblies provided by Gulf Controls only need to stock the amount necessary for immediate use. Gulf Controls maintains a continuous flow of product to the OEM in a timely fashion.
VA/VE essentially means a systematic method to improve the value of goods or products and services by using an examination of function. A Gates team is sent out to the customer's location to examine hose systems and find ways to do the job for less, such as redesigning a system to require fewer adapters.
