Gulf Controls Company Promotes Scott Gower to District Sales Manager

Gulf Controls Company, Inc. has added a new sales district and promoted Scott Gower to the position of District Manager for the Eastern District, an area including large parts of eastern and central Florida.

Gulf Controls distributes motion control products throughout Florida, southeast Georgia and Puerto Rico. Until now, the region was divided into three sales districts; North, Central and South. The Northern District was very large, extending all the way from Georgia to Orange County, Florida.  As the customer base expanded, it became difficult for just one District Manager, charged with oversight of sales and support personnel in the District, to ensure customers receive the level of personal customer support Gulf Controls is known for.

Mr. Gower was already part of the Northern District sales team as Territory Manager for Orange, Osceola and Brevard counties. The new Eastern District includes those three counties and adds another twelve counties to comprise the new District, which extends up to Gainesville in the North and St Augustine in the east.

As District Manager, Gower will spend approximately 25% of his time managing sales staff, but will continue to personally oversee some of the larger accounts.

Mr. Gower, who is 37 years old, has spent the last 14 years – most of his working life - in the fluid power industry. Prior to his nine years with Gulf Controls, he was with Piedmont FluidAir for over five years.  Gower also currently serves as a Director-at-Large of the National Board of the International Fluid Power Society and is Treasurer for local Chapter 39, and has served three terms as President of local Chapters 49 and 50 of the society.

He is a Certified Fluid Power Specialist. His article for the Fluid Power Journal, which can be read at http://fluidpowerjournal.com/2013/02/how-i-got-my-first-job/, describes the importance of this certification in his career development.

Mr. Gower is excited about Gulf Control’s recent acquisition by Employee Owned Holdings, Inc. “Becoming an ESOP is a big plus for the futures of the families at Gulf Controls. If another distributor had bought the company, the company culture could have been drastically changed.“
