Ventura, CA – Guernsey Coating Laboratories (GCL - www.gclinc.com) Â announces that Ty Guernsey, the co-founder since inception in 1982, has acquired the company, making GCL a 100 % woman-owned business. The company specializes in optical coatings covering the wavelength range from the ultraviolet (UV) to the near-infrared (NIR).

GCL uses thermal-resistance source and electron-beam deposition and ion-beam sputtering techniques. Optical thin films available include BBAR, V-coats, dielectric high reflectors, beam splitters, aluminum, silver and gold metallic mirrors, and neutral density and dichroic filters. The company’s adjustable fixtures allow for efficient handling of precision optics ranging from less than ¼ inch to 6 inches and up.
Guernsey Coating Laboratories has eight ion-beam sputtering and physical vapor deposition (PVD) chambers. The company provides a full range of optical thin film services from RD to high-volume runs including custom designs, evaluation and testing, to final production. GCL meets and often exceeds Mil-Spec requirements.
