Greer Steel Expands Its Dover Ohio Operation to Include Full Service Center Capabilities

(Dover, OH) - Greer Steel today announced that the company is expanding its Dover, Ohio operation to include full service center capabilities.  The expansion, which is nearing completion, will be operational effective March 1.

The expansion of capabilities includes a brand new 13,000 sq. ft. addition to the operational portion of the site.  With the improvements being made, the Dover facility is now capable of providing all of the products that are offered through its Ferndale, MI service center location.  In addition to providing strip and stainless products that have historically been offered directly from the Dover location, Greer will now be able to provide a full range of service center quantities to its customers.  This will allow the Dover facility to meet not only the needs of customers with traditional mill quantity releases, but will also provide enhanced service for customers requiring smaller quantity releases typically associated with JIT / KANBAN programs.

The 13,000 sq. ft. addition features a new 40,000# overhead crane and full radiant floor humidity control to support retention of both intermediate processed product and finished goods, which support small quantity release / defined stocking programs (releases as small as 500# per).  Moreover, this expansion incorporates a broader range of products available not only in the breadth of grades being offered, but also in width, gauge and coil sizes.  (See full capabilities at www.greersteel.com)

“We are confident that our new capabilities will provide increased value and flexibility to our customers”,  John R. Raese, President and CEO stated.  “Having our service center capabilities incorporated within our Dover complex will  improve our efficiency and ability to service our customers and thereby achieve greater customer satisfaction.”
