Press release date: July 16, 2012

Eastlake, OH- Nextec Laser Metrology LLC, a provider of quality inspection technologies, has announced the purchase of a WIZinspect high-speed 3D, multi-position laser inspection solution at Gräbener Maschininetechnik GmbH (Germany). Gräbener will use the CMM measuring unit for geometry verification of its hydroformed components, especially in the area of prototyping and for production components used in the assembly of high-performance heat exchangers and metal separator plates.

Recognized for its hydroforming experience, Gräbener Maschinentechnik has become established as a developer and producer of separator plate modules for the fuel cell industry over the last few years.

"We are faced with ever increasing quality demands while having to meet high production requirements," explained Achim Edelmann, Area Manager at Gräbener New Technologies. "The Nextec system will help us fulfill both challenges.

"Even more important to Gräbener," continued Edelmann, "is the solution's capability to verify complex structures with shiny surfaces - or even surfaces with a mirror finish. This would not be possible using traditional and conventional measuring technology."

The WIZinspect system relies upon an advanced non-contact laser-scanning sensor that significantly reduces component inspection time while providing highest precision. All NEXTEC solutions offer a large dynamic range enabling thousands of data points to be collected quickly and accurately to deliver highly reliable scanning and geometric measurements. Additionally, these systems automatically perform self-calibration on-the-fly via real-time closed loop adaptive control.

Nextec inspection systems are installed at leading OEMs across the world in various industries including automotive, aerospace, power generation and machine tools. For more information, visit http://nextec-laser.com. Demonstrations of the solution can be scheduled by contacting the Nextec Laser Metrology offices at 440-413-7605.
