Governor Beebe and State Representative Broadway Tour High-Tech Jobs at Power Technology

LITTLE ROCK, AR, September 14, 2010 - Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe and State Representative Shane Broadway launched their "More and Better Jobs for Arkansas Initiative" today by touring Power Technology, Inc. in Alexander, Arkansas which designs, manufactures, and distributes laser diode products.

Walter Burgess, Vice-President of Sales and Engineering stated, "Governor Beebe spent the better part of an hour on a guided tour of our 25,000 square foot facility examining the engineering and production areas, reviewing the quality control process and procedures, and examining parts being made in our state of the art machine shop." Mr. Burgess added, "We demonstrated to Governor Beebe that the benefits to manufacturing in Arkansas are reflected in our focus on short lead times and the customization that helps assure the success of our customer's projects."

Power Technology, Inc. (PTI) has been a leader in the Photonics Industry for over 40 years and is a privately-held, home-grown Arkansas business. Governor Beebe remarked," Power Technology, Inc. is precisely the kind of high-tech business that the state needs to attract and nurture". In referring to Power Technology, Inc. during his visit, the Governor went on to say, "Mainly what I am doing is celebrating an Arkansas success story. This is the kind of thing that we've been talking about for a long time-the jobs of tomorrow. We need more businesses and industries like this to be competitive."
