Press release date: September 30, 2008

Landenberg, PA, September 30, 2008 - W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of high performance cable assemblies, has joined the Ethernet Alliance, an industry group dedicated to the promotion of Ethernet technologies. Gore will specifically play a key role in the advancement of developing Ethernet copper cable interconnect technologies. Currently this includes GORE(TM) SFP+ and QSFP Copper Cable Assemblies, which are ideal for the high-performance computing (HPC), enterprise networking and network storage markets and are well suited for emerging 10 GbE and 40 GbE applications.

Gore's SFP+ cable assemblies comply with the SFF-8431 standard, while providing a very low latency, reduced jitter and a maximum signal eye opening, at lengths up to 25 meters with active copper technology and 15 meters with passive copper technologies.

"We are very proud to join the Ethernet Alliance," said Russ Hornung, Gore's business development representative for advanced digital interconnects and Gore's primary Ethernet authority. "We believe that Gore can offer highly reliable copper cable interconnect technologies to reduce system costs, reduce power requirements and improve signal integrity. Gore is devoted to improving interoperability and helping the Ethernet Standard to prosper."
