Goodyear Names Finkelmeier to Key Role in North American OE Tire Business


AKRON, Ohio, Oct. 19, 2006 - The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company announces that Johann Finkelmeier has been named to the position of vice president and general manager of original equipment tires in the company's North American Tire unit. Finkelmeier will report to Larry Mason, Goodyear's North American president of consumer tires.

Finkelmeier, 53, has more than 20 years of experience in the automotive industry. He most recently served at Akebono North America as executive vice president, global strategy & business development OE/OES sales. Prior to his post at Farmington Hills, Mich.-based Akebono, Finkelmeier was president of ThyssenKrupp Steel North America, in Detroit. He also worked in various positions at Kloeckner & Company, an international multi-metal distribution firm, and served as president of the Northern Group of KloecknerNamasco Corporation, in Roseville, Mich. He holds an MBA from the University of Essen in Germany.Finkelmeier will maintain offices in Goodyear's corporate headquarters in Akron, along with the company's OE office in Southfield, Mich.

Finkelmeier replaces Michael A. Parnell, who served as vice president, original equipment sales, for Goodyear's North American Tire business for the past two years. An announcement on Parnell's next assignment within Goodyear will be forthcoming.

Goodyear is one of the world's largest tire companies. The company manufactures tires, engineered rubber products and chemicals in more than 100 facilities in 29 countries around the world. Goodyear employs about 80,000 people worldwide.
