Goodrich on Collier Trophy-Winning X2 Demonstrator Team

Air data system, engine control help propel speed record-breaking helicopter

PARIS - PARIS AIR SHOW - Goodrich Corporation (NYSE: GR) has been recognized for its role as part of the 2010 Robert J. Collier Trophy-winning Sikorsky X2 Technology(TM) demonstrator team, providing its SmartProbe® air data systems and engine controls to the speed record-breaking aircraft. The X2 Technology demonstrator team received the award after the aircraft successfully achieved a speed of 250 knots true air speed in level flight, setting an unofficial speed record for a helicopter and accomplishing the program's ultimate speed milestone.

Goodrich's Sensors and Integrated Systems business in Burnsville, Minn. provides its SmartProbe air data system for the X2, representing the system's first application on a rotorcraft platform. Goodrich's Engine Control and Electrical Power Systems business, based in West Hartford, Conn., provides the X2 engine's fuel pump and metering unit, and also made modifications to the engine control software. Both businesses provided engineering support for integration and flight testing phases of the program.

Curtis Reusser, segment president Electronic Systems at Goodrich said, "This award not only underscores the importance of Goodrich products on future helicopters; it also celebrates our talented employees who create cutting-edge products that improve aircraft safety, performance, reliability and cost."
