Goodrich Receives STC for External Rescue Hoist System for Use on Board Eurocopter as 350B3 Helicopter

CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 17 / - Paris Air Show - Goodrich Corporation (NYSE:GR) has received Supplemental Type Certification (STC) from the FAA for an external rescue hoist system for use on board the Eurocopter AS 350B3 - a multi-purpose helicopter used worldwide by law enforcement agencies. The Goodrich system includes an externally-mounted rescue hoist as well as structural and electrical installation components.

"Our system is now available via original equipment manufacturers, modification and finishing centers, or directly by operators for both original equipment or aftermarket installations. Receiving an STC on this system clearly opens up many options for existing and new AS 350B3 operators," said Pablo Ocasio, Business Development Director, Goodrich Sensors and Integrated Systems. "Our new rescue hoist system expands search and rescue capabilities and offers the rescue community advanced safety for both aircrews and accident victims," he added.

The Goodrich AS 350B3 Category One system meets all Federal Aviation Regulation 27 requirements and increases the rescue hoisting envelope to a 500-pound load capacity, the maximum available today for the AS 350B3 helicopter. It also includes a convenient, fast rope attachment point built into the hoist boom arm, and night vision compatibility.

Goodrich's hoist and winch team produces both traditional level wind and industry-unique translating drum cable management systems. Because the mission capabilities of the design concepts are so unique, Goodrich distinguishes between the technologies by category distinctions - translating drum as Category One and the traditional level wind as Category Two. Goodrich is the only manufacturer of the Category One technology in the world.

Goodrich Sensors and Integrated Systems provides a broad range of systems to the aerospace industry worldwide including SmartProbe(TM) air data systems, Electronic Flight Bag systems, security and surveillance systems, fuel measurement and management systems, health and usage management systems, ice detection and protection systems and rescue hoists and cargo winches.
