Press release date: September 1, 2011

(New York, New York - September 1, 2011) - Thomas Industrial Network and the U.S. Commercial Service are partnering to host a free webinar on best practices for growing business overseas.

The online event will take place from 1-2 pm EST on September 14, 2011.

During the webinar, Thomas Industrial Network Vice President of Sales Joe Lardieri will address ways that companies can take advantage of the Internet so that buyers and engineers around the globe can find their products and services. Among the examples is Aero Industries, Inc., a Florida-based distributor of specialty metals that built a busy export business where there once was none. Until recently, they primarily serviced the aerospace industry. But when the space shuttle program ended, Aero's management needed to penetrate new markets to survive.

Working with Thomas Industrial Network, Aero Industries developed a new Internet strategy. They rebuilt Aero Industries' website from the buyer's point of view, anticipating every detail an engineer or procurement officer would need in order to place an RFP or make a purchase. Further, the website shows that Aero can source and distribute items that are important for non-aerospace industries, like automotive and medical. Such specificity attracts qualified leads from around the world.

Another important part of the Internet strategy bringing overseas buyers to Aero Industries is a presence on ThomasNet.com, the Internet's leading sourcing and supplier discovery and selection platform. This new Internet strategy brought so many overseas buyers to Aero Industries, that export customers now represent 20 percent of its bottom line. In fact, Aero's international business is growing so well that the company is opening a new office overseas.

Mr. Lardieri will share similar examples from other customers, including Tek Pak, an Illinois-based manufacturer of made-to-order thermoforming solutions for the electronics, food, healthcare and biomedical industries. Since implementing its Internet strategy, they've signed new customers from around the globe, from Mexico to Malaysia. The new business enabled Tek Pak to recently move into a new R&D facility.
