WILMINGTON, MA - September 23, 2008 -- Automation Engineering Incorporated (AEi), a global supplier of high-precision flexible automation systems, announced Geoffrey Olson as product line manager to lead the global expansion of their camera module assembly, alignment and test division. Olson brings over 15 years of experience in photonics and flexible automation. Prior to joining AEi, he was responsible for corporate equipment technology at Flextronics including development of the corporate equipment technology roadmap. During his tenure, he was responsible for corporate equipment evaluations and equipment development projects including automated manufacturing equipment for next-generation cell phone cameras and automatic fiber optic alignment systems.

According to AEi Chief Operating Officer Justin Roe, "Almost a billion camera modules are manufactured and sold every year - many for cell phone and automotive applications. AEi's CMAT is the most technologically advanced production system for high precision 5-axis alignment and assembly of camera modules in the world. Geoff's experience at global camera module manufacturing programs at Flextronics, as a prior user of AEi machines, and his extensive knowledge of the industry will be invaluable assets as we continue to expand our camera module assembly, alignment and test technologies."

Olson earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Portland State University with an emphasis in control engineering. He has also continued his education with graduate courses in optics, lasers and automation.
