Enables Carriers to Achieve Faster Time to Market in Upgrading and Adding Sites

NEEDHAM, Mass., April 4 / -- General Dynamics Wireless Services, a leading provider of turnkey wireless network solutions for commercial wireless carriers and public safety agencies, now offers an expanded suite of radio frequency (RF) and network engineering design services to complement its site acquisition, integration and deployment capabilities. As part of its new design services, General Dynamics has introduced and is leading the practice of offering one integrated design plan for multiple wireless projects, enabling carriers to save time and money when upgrading and adding sites.

"Market requirements for improved reliability and advanced services are putting increasing demands on wireless carriers to increase network coverage and capacity and deploy new technologies," said Tom Kirchmaier, vice president and general manager of General Dynamics Wireless Services. "As carriers seek to reduce churn, grow new customer segments and revenue streams, and attract content and multi-media partners, they recognize that network quality and coverage are top priorities. With its full suite of deployment capabilities and team of qualified, experienced wireless design engineers, General Dynamics is well positioned to partner with carriers in meeting these demands."

General Dynamics' new suite of RF and network engineering design services complements carriers' in-house engineering resources. The company's experienced design engineers have local market knowledge and work closely with carriers to deliver high-quality designs that meet complex specifications, strict schedules and tight budgets, while ensuring that the carrier maintains centralized control and project oversight. Using the latest tools and software, General Dynamics Wireless Services produces accurate and integrated design plans that give customers a complete view of their network.

"As the industry gears up for new technology deployments such as WiMAX and broadcast mobile TV, it's crucial that carriers look to partner with a leading systems integrator," said Peter Howard, director of engineering for General Dynamics Wireless Services.

"Wireless carriers exist in an increasingly competitive market space, where market maturity makes it harder to gain new customers and network quality is critical to keeping customers from jumping to a competitor," he added. "We help our customers attract consumers and business customers by helping to expand and upgrade their networks quickly, while maintaining quality of network design and build."

As a market leader, General Dynamics Wireless Services provides integrated survey, site audit and final design that includes multiple projects, such as new site builds, upgrades to UMTS/HSDPA or EVDO, and capacity growth.

"This approach allows tight collaboration and integration of cross- functional project teams, enabling carriers to achieve faster time to market and faster time to revenue," said Howard. "In addition, by contracting with one company for the entire design-to-deployment process, carriers have better oversight and accountability for all their wireless projects."
