BarTite and BarClad Sealing Washers Achieve NEMA 250 Type 6 Rating

Wilmington, MA - Gaynor Industries, a specialty fastener manufacturer, announced today that an independent testing laboratory has successfully completed NEMA ingress protection and corrosion evaluations for BarTite and BarClad sealing washers and issued a NEMA 250 Type 6 rating for both product lines.

The product evaluations, conducted at Intertek's Cortland Safety Facility in Cortland, NY, were performed on all current sizes of BarTite sealing washers and BarClad Neoprene sealing washers. Marc Spada, Director of Sales & Marketing, states "We are excited to confirm product performance through independent testing. This is an important performance rating to achieve for electrical enclosure fasteners and a baseline for product performance in the engineering world". The NEMA 250 Type 6 rating allows engineers to specify BarTite and BarClad fasteners knowing that their performance is guaranteed to meet NEMA standards.

NEMA 250 Type 6 enclosures are constructed for either indoor or outdoor use to provide a degree of protection to personnel against access to hazardous parts; to provide a degree of protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects (falling dirt); to provide a degree of protection with respect to harmful effects on the equipment due to the ingress of water (hose directed water and the entry of water during occasional temporary submersion at a limited depth); and that will be undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosure. This NEMA rating meets and exceeds the IEC requirements for protection against the ingress of water.1

Gaynor Industries was founded in 1954 to provide specialized sealing washers, nuts and screws to a diverse range of manufacturers across a variety of industries. Manufactured in Wilmington, Massachusetts, the BarTite, BarClad, and BarPad series of sealing fasteners offer superior performance and advanced designs to deliver sealing solutions that will stand the test of time.
