Day and GX to Collaborate on the Open Standard for Content Management
NIJMEGEN, The Netherlands and BASEL, Switzerland, February 26 // -- GX, one of the largest vendors in the Netherlands of web content management solutions, and Day Software Holding AG (SWX: DAYN, OTC: DYIHY), a leading provider of global content management software, will be working together to further extend the open-source Apache Jackrabbit product.
Since its launch in 2005 Apache Jackrabbit has quickly become the leading Java Content Repository (JCR) for the open source industry. Day Software is the initiator of the underlying industry standard JSR 170 and is leading the industry expert group. The JSR 170 standard is currently being developed in a second version under the name JSR 283. GX, together with Day and major software vendors such as IBM, Oracle, Sun, HP and SAP, is part of the international expert group responsible for setting this standard.
Martijn van Berkum, GX's CTO says, "Our vision is that storing information from web content management systems should be as standardized as possible to make sure that the solutions we develop for our clients are open and the content is interchangeable with other systems. Apache Jackrabbit is our best option and we are happy that, together with Day Software, we are able to improve Apache Jackrabbit based on our needs".
David Nuscheler, CTO of Day Software and SpecLead of the JSR 170 expert Group, explains, "The Apache Software Foundation is currently the most respected provider of open-source technology, and Apache Jackrabbit is the best open source option for those organizations that want to get rid of their expensive and difficult to maintain information storage. We are thrilled with the choice of GX for the open standard and the improvements we will accomplish in Jackrabbit through this partnership".
Apache Jackrabbit will be the standard content repository that comes with GX WebManager, the leading product for web content management in the Netherlands.
