This is the third time since the award's inception that a GW Commercial Services supervisor has been recognized with this award. It also is the second time that the team at the Major General Emmett J. Bean Federal Center has been recognized.

A unique working relationship based on mutual respect and a shared desire to do the best job possible are the qualities that best describe the partnership between the General Services Administration (GSA) and GW Commercial Services, an affiliated organization of Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana, Inc.

Currently, GW Commercial Services receives more than $8 million in Federal Service contracts in janitorial, shelf-stocking and mailroom services with GSA, FAA, DECA, VA, Homeland Security (U.S. Customs & Border Protection), and the IRS providing employment for 194 people of whom 85%, or 164, have severe disabilities and/or other barriers to employment. The Major General Emmett J. Bean Center provides employment for 72 people of whom 53 have severe disabilities and/or other barriers. Employees earn at or above $10.85 per hour plus have Health & Welfare benefits equivalent to $3.35 per hour.

More than just a symbol, the Partners in Service Excellence Award represents successful partnerships resulting in well-maintained federal buildings, satisfied tenants, and independent fulfilling lives for those who may not otherwise have the opportunity to contribute their skills in a work environment.
