Lincolnshire, Illinois, February 18, 2009- GF AgieCharmilles will showcase its latest milling and wire and die-sinking EDM innovations at WESTEC 2009. Among the products featured in booth #2900 is GF AgieCharmilles' Mikron HSM 400U, which provides 5-axis simultaneous high-speed machining in a compact footprint. GF AgieCharmilles' metalcutting solutions will be on display from March 30 - April 2 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Los Angeles, CA.
The Mikron HSM 400U delivers powerful performance and precision on all five axes to produce the highest quality surface finish for demanding high-precision applications. Designed to accommodate workpieces up to 9.05" x 13.77", the Mikron HSM 400U offers levels of reliability, traceability and accuracy ideal for prototype and mold construction. Additionally, the Mikron HSM 400U uses the latest liquid-cooled, direct drive motor technology to achieve speeds up to 250 rpm on the rotational axis and up to 150 rpm on the swivel axis, with a swivel range of +100 degrees/-30 degrees.
GF AgieCharmilles' CUT 20 wire EDM combines outstanding EDM performance with remarkable ease of use. The new and intuitive HMI (human-machine interface) is built on a Windows XP platform, and is designed with "non-EDM experts" in mind. Adding to the smart design of control is the proven performance of the Swiss-made IPG-V generator. The generator's tried, tested and reliable electronics makes extremely fast removal rates possible, even with economical brass wire. The low energy consumption and the long working life of the wear parts reduce operating costs and ensure profitability.
Similar to its wire EDM counterpart, GF AgieCharmilles' FORM 20 die sinking EDM combines ease of use with exceptional performance. Constructed with a C-frame and cross-table design, the FORM 20 is suited to withstand the temperature fluctuations found in the standard workshop environment. GF AgieCharmilles equipped the machine with glass scales that continuously measure and correct axis positions, ensuring that all components are within the required range of accuracy. Additionally, the FORM 20 offers a large worktable (640 x 400 mm), making it well suited for multiple-component production.
