GE Installs 500th Wind Turbine in Brazil


• 1.6-Megawatt Wind Turbine at DESA’s Eurus Project in Rio Grande do Norte Marks 500th GE Wind Turbine Installation in Country

RIO DE JANIERO – GE (NYSE: GE) today announced its 500th wind turbine installation in Brazil. The 1.6-megawatt (MW) turbine was installed at DESA’s 38-MW Eurus project in Joao Camara in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.

Wind energy is one of Brazil’s fastest growing energy sources. In 2012, 1,077 MWs of wind were added in Brazil[1]. According to Navigant Research’s BTM Report, “International Wind Energy Development: World Market Update 2012,” GE was 2012’s number one installer of wind energy in Brazil with 435 MWs. Every GE 2012 project was completed on schedule, allowing customers in Brazil to meet their power purchase agreement requirements.
