Press release date: December 20, 2006

HOUSTON, TEXAS-December 20, 2006-GE Energy has signed a contract to provide OAO Territorial Generating Company No4 (TGK-4) with two LM2500+DLE aeroderivative gas turbine generator sets for its Belgorod TEC power station in Russia. This is a follow-on order from two units shipped in 2006, which are currently in commercial operation. The power station will generate both heat and electrical power to reduce the cost of operation for the local power and district-heating grid.

The two LM2500+ gas turbine generators are each rated at 30 megawatts and are equipped with a dry low emissions system to reduce the nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. Natural gas will serve as the primary fuel source. The units will operate in cogeneration cycle to provide a total of 60 megawatts of electrical power and hot water for district heating to the local power grid in the Belgorod residential area. The contract also includes a modular control room where control system panels, batteries, chargers, operator terminal and motor control center will be located.

This will be the second power generation station with the same configuration in Belgorod city. The first station, Looch, began commercial operation in December 2005. "GE Energy has a long-standing commitment to reducing emissions and providing the best power-generating equipment. We are pleased our aeroderivative gas turbine generator set has been chosen to support this second power station in Belgorod to help them meet their needs in this fast growing area," said Charles (Chip) Blankenship, general manager of GE Energy's aeroderivative business.

The LM2500+ gas generators will be manufactured at GE's aeroderivative gas turbine facility in Evandale, Ohio, while the power turbines will be manufactured at GE's Oil & Gas plant in Florence, Italy. The overall package construction, assembly and testing will be conducted at the GE Energy packaging facility in Houston, Texas. The gas turbine generator sets will be shipped from Houston, Texas and are scheduled for delivery in Belgorod, Russia in March 2007.

Belgorod TEC is a typical steam power station erected in the 1930s, modernized with GE equipment in the 1950s, and used up to mid 90s. Now this power station will receive new and modern GE power generation equipment and will significantly increase power and efficiency of operation.

GE Energy's aeroderivative business is a leading supplier of aeroderivative gas turbines and packaged generator sets for industrial and marine applications. The company provides power-generating equipment to utilities, industries and marine fleets throughout the world. It is also the world's largest and most experienced aeroderivative gas turbine service provider.
