Press release date: November 28, 2006

ORLANDO, FLORIDA-November 28, 2006-The first ever conversion of a GE LM2500 aeroderivative gas turbine with a standard annular combustor (SAC) to a LM2500+ gas turbine with dry low emissions (DLE) will be completed by GE Energy during the fourth quarter of 2006. The City of Medicine Hat in Alberta, Canada chose the GE Energy gas turbine conversions for more power, reduced emissions and better heat rate. Natural gas will serve as the primary fuel source. The units will operate in combined cycle mode with exhaust heat going into heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) for steam production. The LM2500+ DLE conversion will:

o Replace two LM2500 SAC aeroderivative gas turbines with two LM2500+ DLE packages o Modify the turbine compartment and inlet plenum to accept the longer LM2500 + o Replace the interior crane and engine lifting system o Install a new compressor discharge bleed valve o Upgrade the control system to include hardware and software that support the LM2500 + DLE o Upgrade the human machine interface (HMI) o Replace the existing vibration monitoring system with the latest Bently Nevada 3500 system o Install new triple annular combustor, gas manifolds, premixers and gas metering systems

The current LM2500 SAC units were commissioned and put into commercial operation in March 2000 and have been running for more than 50,000 hours on full load. "The conversion of these units will give the City of Medicine Hat additional power output and increased steam production," said Charles (Chip) Blankenship, general manager of GE Energy's aeroderivative division.
