GE Energy Completes Acquisition of Sondex, a Global Oilfield Technology Company

ATLANTA, GEORGIA - October 26, 2007 : - GE Energy announced today it has completed the acquisition of Sondex plc to further expand its capability and expertise in oil & gas drilling and wireline technology.

Sondex is headquartered in Hampshire in the United Kingdom and specializes in the engineering and manufacture of directional drilling and formation evaluation systems and wireline tools for the production of oil and gas.

"The Sondex people, technology and global relationships are an important addition to GE Energy's portfolio of businesses, complementing our existing exploration and production product line," said Brian Palmer, vice president of GE Energy's Optimization and Control business. "The company brings to us a broad range of advanced products and technologies, as well as a management team and employees with a deep understanding of the customers they serve. We expect the combination to form a technology growth platform for GE going forward."

For more than 30 years, GE Energy has served the oil and gas services sector with specialized equipment from its Reuter Stokes Measurement Solutions product lines, which designs and produces detectors for use in high temperature and shock environments. In oil & gas exploration and production, GE provides equipment to enable oilfield service companies to navigate drill strings and to identify underground oil and gas reserves. The Sondex acquisition will expand the product portfolio and allow customers worldwide to benefit from the combined capabilities, capacity and resources of the two businesses.
