GAF Roof Featured in Gold Award Winner of ARMA's QARC Program

WAYNE, NJ – GAF, North America's largest roofing manufacturer, is proud to have been featured with a winning project in ARMA's (Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association) 2013 Quality Asphalt Roofing Case Study Program (QARC). The QARC program seeks to recognize industry professionals who use asphaltic roofing and to document successful projects that illustrate the benefits of asphalt roofing systems.

The 2013 Gold Award-winning project is the NOAA building in La Jolla, CA, and was submitted by Protech Roofing Service. A complicated install, Protech had to create a roofing system that would assure redundancy and long-term performance, accommodating over 800 stand-up solar panels and meeting the stringent requirements dictated by California Title 24. Working together as a team with their specifiers, the general contractor, and GAF, the manufacturers for this project were able to master each and every hurdle. The system included EnergyGuard™ Tapered Polyiso and an overlay of EnergyGuard™ Perlite, GAFGLAS® Ultima 80™ Base Sheet, two plies of GAFGLAS® FlexPly™ 6, and GAFGLAS® EnergyCap™ BUR Mineral-Surfaced Cap Sheet, which provided a reflective, redundant, compliant roofing system.

"We're excited to have been involved once again with a project recognized by the QARC program. There really is no better way to reinforce the versatility and reliability of asphaltic roofing options than through this ARMA program," says Lynn Picone, director of inside sales at GAF. The case study program provides all industry professionals the opportunity to share good roofing practices and have their efforts recognized by ARMA's panel of judges.
