Fusion-io Showcases All-Flash Shared Storage Performance and Data Integrity at Oracle OpenWorld 2013

Implemented with the T10 PI Specification, Data Integrity Solution Features Fusion ION Data Accelerator Software with Fusion ioMemory, Oracle Database, Oracle Linux, and Emulex Host Bus Adapters

SAN FRANCISCO - [Oracle OpenWorld 2013 booth #1127] - Fusion-io (NYSE: FIO) today announced ION Data Accelerator demonstrations at Oracle OpenWorld that deliver accelerated performance for Oracle Database environments, as well as enhanced end-to-end data integrity verified by the T10 Protection Information (T10 PI) specification. With Fusion ION Data Accelerator Software and Fusion ioDrive2 server flash memory products supporting the Oracle Linux operating system, Oracle Database, and Emulex LightPulse® Gen 5 (16Gb Fibre Channel) Host Bus Adapters (HBAs), the two demonstrations showcased this week achieve the performance, reliability and data integrity required for mission-critical enterprise applications.

"From customer resource management to business intelligence, databases are the lifeblood of today's enterprises, making data integrity as critical as performance," said Afshin Daghi, Fusion-io Vice President of Systems Engineering. "To help customers rapidly turn information into action, Fusion-io solutions deliver both trusted performance and integrity for enterprise databases like those from Oracle. With ION Data Accelerator software, Oracle Linux and Emulex Gen 5 FC HBAs, customers can ensure performance for their critical enterprise applications and maintain a high level of data reliability."

The T10 PI data integrity demonstration features the Fusion ION Data Accelerator shared storage solution with Oracle Linux and Emulex Gen 5 FC HBAs. The data integrity testing was conducted by inserting corrupt data into the system and verifying that despite the insertions, data integrity on ION Data Accelerator was not compromised. Using the T10 PI specification, data corruption is noticed and fixed as it is written to shared storage, helping ensure reliability for enterprise applications. The demonstration incorporates Oracle Linux with the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel, which supports integrity features that leverage the T10 PI specification. Additional technical details about the T10 PI reliability demo are available at http://www.fusionio.com/t10-pi-data-integrity-demonstration-protecting-against-silent-data-corruption.

The Oracle Database acceleration demonstration conducted at Oracle OpenWorld with the ION Data Accelerator was able to achieve more than 2.5 million input and output operations (IOPS) per second. The solution leverages Fusion ioMemory, Emulex LightPulse Gen 5 FC HBAs, and Oracle Linux to deliver scalable performance that accelerates Oracle Database. The ION Data Accelerator software transforms servers into powerful, high-performance shared storage, helping to ensure ultra low latency in data intensive environments. "Flash technology is changing the performance requirements and opportunities in the enterprise," said Shaun Walsh, senior vice president of marketing and corporate development, Emulex. "Our new Gen 5 FC HBAs provide next-generation capabilities including advanced data integrity, twice the bandwidth, and 50 percent better latency to scale Oracle instances in the same server footprint. Delivering solutions with Fusion-io and Oracle offers customers the confidence that they will see scalability, cost effective data integrity protection in their enterprise-class deployments."

Live demonstrations of the two solutions are being featured at Fusion-io booth 1127 during Oracle OpenWorld 2013 in San Francisco from September 22-26.
