Full Warranty Terms


Hardware warranties: For two (2) years from original shipment date, Seller warrants to the Purchaser that the equipment will be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service, excluding normal wear and tear, and Seller's liability is limited, at Seller's option, solely to the replacement or repair of such defective parts or units as the case may be; (A) which are returned in the original box and packing material, with all necessary documentation, shipping and handling charges prepaid by Purchaser, to Seller and, (B) which are proven to be defective upon Seller's inspection. The warranty period for replacement parts or units shall begin upon Seller's shipment of the replacement part or unit to the Purchaser, but shall not exceed the original warranty period of the equipment. The coverage terms of the two year warranty as follows:

First six months on site.
Second six months: Return to Depot (RTD), parts and labor.
Last 12 months: Return to depot - parts only, no labor.
Upgrades to the standard warranty are available.
The cost of freight in not covered under the standard warranty.
Repair of the scanner will be performed at an authorized and designated IDEAL repair center once the scanner is returned to that site.
For ninety days after the purchase of scanner and/or software products IDEAL will provide up to three hours of telephone or email support for the products purchased.
The standard warranty does not include the cost of integration of the scanner or software with your computer or network.
On site warranties: Kodak Provides On-site warranty service for IDEAL / Contex scanners.
Details
Consumables, non warranty items: Several items that come with your scanner are considered consumables, or are otherwise not covered under the warranty. Typical items include, but are not limited only to; original glasses or glass filters, fluorescent or halogen lamps, interface and power connections and cables, original guide and white background plates, external panels, software disks and CD's, calibration sheets and charts. Some items, such as SCSI cards, have a separate warranty and may not be covered under the IDEAL standard warranty.

Repair returns: Before returning any scanner for repair, you must obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. This number can be issued by your IDEAL sales representative or any member of the technical support staff. You will need to supply at least the following information; company and contact name and phone number, scanner model and serial number, nature of problem. Return the merchandise promptly, RMA numbers are good for 14 days from date of issue. All products must be shipped in their original crate with the original packaging materials, with the RMA number clearly showing on an outside shipping label (please do not write on the crate itself). All inside contents such as manuals and accessories must be included as required. In the event the original shipping crate is not available, IDEAL can provide a loaner shipping crate at an additional charge. Customer is responsible for all freight and insurance; products must be shipped pre paid, IDEAL will not accept packages marked freight collect. IDEAL will exercise it's best efforts to perform a timely repair turn around for returned products, but will make no commitment as to the time frame for the proper repair of the product.

Installation: IDEAL offers no charge support for new first time scanner installation within the first 30 days after purchase. Reinstallation, installation on a different or second computer, or installations after 30 days are not covered free under the standard warranty. Additionally; the standard warranty does not include the cost of integration of the scanner with your computer or network. Scanner hardware installation can be purchased separately for a flat fee plus expenses, an additional on site service contract is not required.

The warranties contained above are in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied, including any regarding merchantability of fitness for a particular purpose, relating to the use or performance of the equipment including the parts thereof. Seller will not be liable for personal injury or property damage (unless caused solely by sellers negligence), loss of profit or other incidental, consequential or special damages arising out of the use or inability to use the equipment, or for any damages (regardless of their nature) caused by the purchasers failure to fulfill it's responsibility as set forth herein. In no event shall sellers liability hereunder exceed the stated selling price of the equipment to purchaser. This warranty shall be void and of no force and effect with respect to any equipment which is damaged as a result of (A) abuse, neglect, alteration, electrical disturbance, fluctuation, or accident, (B) improper use, including failure to follow operating, maintenance and environmental conditions prescribed in the instruction manual, (C) repair by other than qualified service representatives and, (D) use of supplies and/or parts that do not meet the sellers specifications. Any and all claims for warranty protection must be asserted by the purchaser within the twenty four (24) months following shipment of the goods and equipment and the failure to notify seller of such claims within this period shall be construed as an estoppel, waiver, and release by purchaser of all warranty claims. In any event, any and all legal proceedings for breach of warranty must be filed and instituted within twenty four (24) months following shipment of the goods and equipment.

This warranty will be interpreted under the Laws of the State of Maryland and in favor of IDEAL Scanners & Systems.
