Fressnapf Introduces Security Label by 3S to Protect Its Online Terminals

Protection from unauthorized access and manipulation in retail

Nottuln, Germany -- To make its mobile payment system even safer, Fressnapf Tiernahrungs GmbH has opted for the OFT security label by 3S Simons Security Systems. Its tamper-proof solution is based on Secure ID® technology which can be completely removed without leaving any residue behind. In contrast to Void films, adhesive residues which might contaminate the protected device are thus avoided. This property is particularly beneficial when companies use leased card readers. Only a gentle push or a slight increase in temperature (e.g. if someone tries to remove the seal using a hair dryer) will cause the label to show visual elements so that any attempt to tamper with the device is instantly identified.

"The OFT security label by 3S is the solution which perfectly meets our high standards in terms of security and practicality," says Friedhelm Eigler, Senior Process Consultant, Fressnapf Tiernahrungs GmbH. With annual sales far exceeding one billion euros and more than 1,200 stores in 12 European countries, Fressnapf has become Europe's largest specialist chain for pet food and supplies.

Making cashless payment even more secure

Since 2013, Fressnapf has been using the OFT security label in all German stores in order to protect its online terminals against unauthorized access. To this end, a tamper-proof banderole is applied onto the terminal mount which holds the card reader. Before first-time use of the cashier systems, the Fressnapf staff check the condition of the terminals by means of a control card which shows the OTF security label in undamaged condition. If the comparison reveals that the tamper-proof label has been removed or if visual elements become visible indicating unauthorized access, appropriate measures will be taken in order to secure the card data.

With the introduction of the OTF security label, Fressnapf Tiernahrungs GmbH makes sure that cashless transactions will become even more secure at its speciality stores.
