BOULDER, Colo., - FreeWave Technologies, (http://www.freewave.com), manufacturer of the most reliable, high-performance spread spectrum and licensed radios for critical data transmission, today announced its GXM wireless data radio was selected as a finalist in the Automation & Control category for Plant Engineering Magazine's 24th Annual Product of the Year competition. Plant Engineering's Product of the Year Awards are the premier honor for new products in the manufacturing and industrial automation markets. Finalists for the award are published in the November issue of Plant Engineering Magazine and are then voted on by its readership.

"We are thrilled to have the GXM chosen as a Product of the Year Award finalist by the industry experts at Content for Engineers (CFE) Media," said Ashish Sharma, chief marketing officer of FreeWave Technologies. "This award helps promote awareness of the dynamic and challenging communication environment within the manufacturing and industrial automation industries and we are proud to be honored as part of this prestigious program."

Building on the success of FreeWave Technologies' 900 MHz product family, the GXM is a 2.4 GHz radio. It was designed to provide Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) with the performance, reliability and quality they expect, combined with a globally available spectrum with full ETSI, FCC, IC, RoHS, and UL Class 1 division 2 Certifications. The 1.4-inch x 2-inch form factor of the GXM provides customers with a dependable solution for applications where space is at a premium, such as those in manufacturing and industrial automation settings, among others. With superior performance in noise-congested environments, the GXM is extremely versatile and a single radio can operate as a master, slave, repeater or slave/repeater. All radios are 100 percent designed, manufactured and tested in FreeWave's world class manufacturing facility in Boulder, CO.

"The unmatched quality, versatility and reliability of our wireless data radios support installations in some of the world's most challenging environments," continued Sharma. "Regardless of the location, we always focus on fulfilling our customers' needs first.
